GIBRALTAR – Gibdock has opened its new “Pad 1” area to accommodate larger and more complex fabrication projects.
The purpose-built 2,940-sq m (31,646-sq ft) pad provides 12 metric tons/sq m (13.2 tons/sq m) load-bearing workspace.
One sector served is offshore oil and gas. According to managing director Richard Beards, “Gibdock has grown its business…in this sector by undertaking several dry dockings and conversions for DSV, PSV, seismic, cable and pipelaying vessels.
“Launching Pad 1 enhances our capabilities to accept larger projects with increased requirements for fabrication works.”
Its high load-bearing capability enables works on very heavy projects, Beards adds, supporting, for instance, seismic conversion works for spooling of streamers as well as other general seismic projects.
