Topaz swells offshore support vessel fleet

DUBAI, UAE –Topaz Energy and Marine has taken delivery of Topaz Responder, a new emergency response and recovery vessel.

It will provide safety support and other services to offshore installations. The vessel was built at the Topaz Engineering shipyard in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi.

The vessel is equipped with onboard medical treatment and recovery facilities; firefighting and oil recovery capabilities; and two 15-person Fast Rapid eployment craft. These can be deployed from the vessel’s deck to the water in 60 seconds.

It has accommodation for 300 people on board and a fully equipped treatment room.

Topaz Responder is 51 m (167 ft) long with a deadweight of 775 metric tons (854 tons), DP Class 1 capability and two Caterpillar 3512B engines.

In mid-year, Topaz expects to further bolster itsfleet a multi-purpose support vessel and to take delivery of a 150-metric ton (165-ton) bollard pull anchor handling tug supply vessel in late 2016.
