VIGO, Spain — The keel has been laid for a new maintenance support vessel at the Freire Shipyard ordered by Briggs Marine.
Its design is adapted to support the company’s contracts for clients including developers of offshore wind farms. Primarily the vessel will perform inspection, servicing and replacement of aids to navigation and heavy inshore moorings in the UK and overseas, along with other tasks such as diving and surveys.
Features will include a moonpool, detachable A-frame, a four-point mooring system, a survey project office and a demountable crew transfer vessel boarding ladder to support offshore wind farm projects.
The 40-m-long vessel, due to be delivered in 2024, will have a diesel-electric DP-2 propulsion system configured for peak efficiency during operations in northern European waters. It will also have MLC- compliant accommodation for a six-person crew and 10 project personnel.
