HAMILTON, Bermuda— Shell has extended its contract for the semisub Deepsea Bollsta offshore Namibia.
According to owner Northern Ocean, the firm term of the contract will now continue through June 2024, with an option for a further six months.
Associated extra revenue for the firm period is about $88.6 million.
Another Northern Ocean semisub, Deepsea Mira, departed Bergen, Norway, in April and started mobilization to the first well location off Namibia for a program for TotalEnergies.
However, there have been delays loading equipment and performing required maintenance during the voyage, so drilling will likely now start around the end of the current quarter.
