Offshore staff
ZURICH, Switzerland – Sembcorp Marine has subcontracted ABB to provide to the electrical system automation for the P-82 FPSO, under construction for the Petrobras-operated Búzios Field in the Santos Basin presalt offshore Brazil.
This will be one of the largest floaters deployed on the giant field, 180 km offshore Rio de Janeiro, with capacity to produce 225,000 bbl/d of oil and process 12 MMcm/d of gas.
ABB will supply the topside and hullside electrical systems. The former will be installed in an eHouse, a prefabricated, modular substation designed to reduce costs, risk exposure and onsite work as all the components are wired, tested and commissioned before shipment to the fabrication yard.
P-82 is one of numerous FPSOs commissioned by Petrobras with emission-reduction capabilities such as carbon capture, utilization and storage.
Petrobras operates the Búzios Field in partnership with CNODC and CNOOC.
