FREDERICIA, Denmark  The construction of the first US-built service operation vessel (SOV) is going full speed ahead, according to an Ørsted LinkedIn post.

The Ørsted team visited a shipyard in Houma, Louisiana, to see the progress made on ECO EDISON, the vessel that will service the company's offshore wind farms in the northeast American region, including South Fork Wind, Revolution Wind and Sunrise Wind.

The SOV will be compliant with the Jones Act, a key requirement for the vessels Ørsted will use throughout the lifespan of its US offshore wind farms.

"The vessel will be the working home for our wind turbine technicians, with enough space for 60 crew members and with innovative technology that will make our work safer and more efficient," Ørsted posted.
