Royston completes engine overhauls for North Star support vessels

The Volvo Penta diesel generators were on board the Grampian Talisman, Grampian Endurance, Grampian Talisker and Grampian Conquest.

This was part of a power system maintenance and overhaul program that included the disassembly of engine blocks to install cylinder heads, fuel pumps and injectors.

Royston’s team also checked and cleaned valves, pistons and conrods, cylinder liners, bearing blocks and crankshafts as well as overhauled and replaced, where necessary, water pumps, fuel injectors, cylinders and turbochargers, camshaft bearings, main bearings and gear.

Engineers then completed incremental load testing in line with the engine manufacturer’s specifications.
