OSLO, Norway—DeepOcean has activated an option to have a battery hybrid system installed on board the Stril Server multipurpose support vessel.
The company is chartering the vessel for a two-year period from Simon Møkster Shipping in Stavanger, which will upgrade it to include battery power notation early in 2024.
Stril Server is supporting DeepOcean’s subsea inspection, maintenance and repair, light construction, and recycling services to operators in the offshore oil and gas/energy sectors.
Simon Møkster Shipping will install a 620-kWh battery system supplied by SEAM. It will upgrade the vessel’s control and DP systems, and it will install a system for onshore charging.
Stril Server carries two Kystdesign ROVs, which can be supervised from DeepOcean’s Remote Operations Centre in Haugesund, Norway.
