VANCOUVER, Canada  GSP Offshore’s jackup Uranus has started drilling the Guluc-2 development well at the SASB gas field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea for operator Trillion Energy International.

Earlier, the rig completed the West Akcakoca-1 17 ½-inch diameter section to a depth of 1,008 m.

The Guluc-2 17 ½-inch section is drilling to a similar depth. After reaching total depth, the well will be perforated and tested. Upon completion of Guluc-2, the rig will return to complete the West Akcakoca-1 well.

Both are long reach directional wells from the Akçakoca platform targeting gas reserves at both the east and west perimeters of the Akcakoca Field.

Trillion expects Guluc-2 to start producing toward the end of January and West Akcakoca-1 by March. The company plans to use revenues from the gas for further field development.

After finishing drilling from the Akçakoca platform, the rig will transfer to the East Ayazli tripod.

Trillion’s current program involves bringing an initial seven production wells online followed by the drilling of a further 10 targets.
