IJMUIDEN/EGMOND AAN ZE, the Netherlands – The Orion installation vessel has set down the topside on the jacket for TenneT’s offshore transformer station Hollandse Kust (north) in the Dutch North Sea, 18.5 km from the coast of Egmond aan Zee.

The 3,500-metric steel topside structure had sailed from Hoboken, Belgium.

Next month TenneT will test the fiber-optic connection, which has been laid on the seabed along with the power cables.

Smulders recently reported that the steel topside for the Hollandse Kust (north) offshore wind platform in the Dutch North Sea sailed from Antwerp on Sept. 28 to Ijmuiden, the Netherlands. It was due to remain at the Leonarduskade until weather conditions allowed DEME's Orion vessel to start the offshore installation.
