RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has contracted the Saipem and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. (DSME) joint venture to construct the eighth FPSO for the Búzios field in the presalt Santos basin offshore Brazil.
The contract is valued at $2.3 billion.
The P-79 will have a capacity to process 180,000 b/d of oil and 7.2 MMcm/d of gas, and store 2 MMbbl of oil. The vessel will be connected to eight producer and six injector wells via a network of rigid production and injection pipelines and flexible service pipelines.
Delivery is scheduled for 2025.
According to Petrobras, the EPC contract terms call for a local content of 25%.
Petrobras is targeting production of more than 2 MMboe/d from the giant Búzios field by the end of the decade. Currently four FPSOs are in operation on the field with three more – the Almirante Barroso, Almirante Tamandaré, and P-78 – under construction. The ninth unit (P-80) is in the contracting process.
