QUONSET POINT, Rhode Island – Dominion Energy has contracted Atlantic Wind Transfers to supply crew transfer vessel (CTV) services for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project.

The company will provide marine support services for the Siemens Gamesa wind turbines that will be installed at the first offshore wind project in US federal waters.

CEO Charles A. Donadio, Jr. said he plans to launch and commission his newbuild Chartwell 24 CTV directly into the long-term charter contract upon delivery from Blount Boats in Warren, Rhode Island, later this year.

The CTV will be based out of Virginia’s Hampton Roads region.

This is the company’s second long-term operations and maintenance CTV contract in the US.

Its 2016-built Atlantic Pioneer was originally under a contract with Deepwater Wind for the installation and operations and maintenance of the five GE 6-MW turbines off Block Island, Rhode Island.

The Atlantic Pioneer currently has a long-term contract with Ørsted providing offshore marine support services for the Block Island wind farm, transporting GE technicians/cargo along with Ørsted personnel performing maintenance year-round.
