MONACO – The final two modules for the turret mooring system (TMS) for Equinor’s Johan Castberg FPSO have departed Dubai for integration into the hull at Sembcorp Marine in Singapore.
Drydocks World Dubai (DDW) fabricated all four modules, delivering the bogie support structure and the lower turret to Singapore in 2019 and earlier this year.
The manifold and gantry modules were loaded onto the transportation vessel in mid-April, and should reach Singapore next month.
SBM Offshore’s design is an 8,000-ton Bogie Turret accommodating 21 riser slots for the FPSO, which will handle production from the Skrugard, Havis and Drivis discoveries in the southern Barents Sea, offshore northern Norway. The FPSO will be permanently moored in 372 m (1,220 ft) of water via three bundles of five mooring lines.
According to SBM, the TMS will allow the FPSO to safely remain in position during weather extreme, ensuring continued operations and the transfer of fluids from the seabed via the risers to the FPSO.
