Cantarell III arrives in Mexico

After a 45-day journey from Singapore, the jackup drilling rig Cantarell III arrived off the Campeche coast on Jan. 27 and will start operations on March 15, according to Grupo R.

MEXICO CITY – After a 45-day journey from Singapore, the jackup drilling rig Cantarell III arrived off the Campeche coast on Jan. 27 and will start operations on March 15, according to Grupo R.

Designed to operate in water depths of up to 400 ft (122 m) and drill to depths of 30,000 ft (9,144 m), the Cantarell III is equipped with a fully-automated high capacity rack and pinion jacking system, self-positioning fixation system, and has accommodation for 150 persons.

Keppel FELS delivered the jackup Cantarell III to a subsidiary of Grupo R in mid-December 2019.
