STEINHAUSEN, Switzerland – Transocean Ltd. has issued an update on its offshore drilling rig fleet.
In the US Gulf of Mexico, Murphy Oil Corp. has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Asgard a two-well contract. It is expected to run from August to October 2019. The day rate is $185,000.
Offshore eastern Canada, Equinor has awarded the harsh environment semisubmersible Transocean Barents a three-well contract plus three one-well options. The start date is expected to be between Jan. 1, and March 1, 2020. The firm term for the contract is about 120 days.
Off India, Reliance has exercised a 365-day option for the ultra-deepwater drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1. The day rate starting in November is $127,000.
Off Egypt, Burullus has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillship Discoverer India a 120-day contract plus six one-well options. It is expected to start in December 2019 at a day rate of $135,000.
In the Norwegian North Sea, Lundin Petroleum exercised two one-well options for the semisub Leiv Eriksson.
Last month the drilling contractor stacked the ultra-deepwater drillship Discoverer Clear Leader.
Since its last report Transocean added about $158 million in contract backlog, bringing total backlog to $11.4 billion.
