Thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) manufacturer Strohm has signed a memorandum of understanding with subsea connection systems specialist UNITECH Offshore.
The two parties will seek to develop and commercialize an integrated system for the transportation of fluids and gases.
This will feature a subsea, end-to-end jumper connection arrangement without flange, designed to reduce the risk of leaks and to simplify the offshore installation process.
UNITECH’s connector will be integrated with Strohm’s TCP end-fitting to create a flange-less interface.
Strohm says its TCP is collapse-resistant to 3,000 m water depth and resistant to fatigue-based failures. The technology is suited to dynamic subsea applications (jumpers, flowlines, risers), including sweet and sour hydrocarbon, water, and gas service.
UNITECH’s UH-500 Series connectors are designed to withstand pressures up to 15,000 psi, and they are used for subsea applications such as gas lift, acid injection, scale squeeze, methanol/MEG injection and electrical connections.
