SOCHI, RussiaGazprom has signed an agreement with ChelPipe at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi on the development and batch production of pipes for offshore projects.

ChelPipe will implement the technique to produce pipes made from 25Cr super duplex steel and the UNS N06625 nickel alloy.

For equipment in offshore environments these materials provide ultra-high strength and corrosion resistance, Gazprom said, adding that no pipes of this kind are currently produced inRussia.

The plan is to deliver, test, and certify prototypes according to Gazprom’s requirements during the course of 2018. The pipes will be employed for manufacturing in Russia of equipment forsubsea production systems (SPSs), including manifolds and X-mas trees.

Russian R&D organizations are currently developing SPSs commissioned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, supported by Gazprom. The first SPS prototypes are set to be unveiled next year, with comprehensive testing lined to follow in 2020.
