MOSCOW – Gazprom has received the first permits for the TurkStream gas pipeline project in the Black Sea from the Turkish authorities after this year’s decision to revive the project.
During negotiations last week, Gazprom Chairman Alexey Miller and Berat Albayrak, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Turkish Republic, agreed to swiftly complete all the required preparatory procedures for launchingTurkStream.
In December 2014, Gazprom and Turkey’s state gas company Botas signed a memorandum of understanding on constructing the pipeline, which will run 660 km (410 mi) along the old route ofSouth Stream and cover 250 km (155 mi) of a new route toward the European part of Turkey.
