J Ray McDermott secured a contract from Chevron for transportation and installation work associated with the Tahiti project.
The contractor's workscope includes installation of two 6-in and four 9-in flowlines with associated PLETs, and steel catenary risers. J Ray has nominated itsDerrick/J-Lay Barge 50 to perform the installation work in 2007.
Chevron may opt to include the transportation and installation of two subsea drill centers and a tie-in sled as part of the scope. The operator is expected to make a decision in early 2006.
The Tahiti development consists of a truss spar-designed floating production unit and two subsea drill centers. The field encompasses portions of Green Canyon blocks 640, 641 and 596, in approximately 4,000 ft of water.
