HARDWICKE, UK AIS will provide subsea thermal insulation on christmas trees, connectors and PLETs for two unnamed contractors for a field development offshore Angola.

The company will deploy its ContraTherm C25 material for dynamic applications and flow assurance, and its ContraTherm C55 multi-layer composite system.

Application will take place in the UK, Angola and Norway.

The awards follow AIS’ execution of previous phases of the field development for the same clients.

C55 is designed specifically for thermal insulation applications for subsea production equipment.

C55 was part of the ConocoPhillips Jade Project before its first major project: Statoil Kristin. Since then, it has been applied on more than 250 completed contracts. Additionally, Akpo is a project AIS started working on in 2009 and still supplies parts for this field 13 years later.

C25 was developed to provide a flexible material suitable for dynamic applications and flow assurance for complex subsea equipment.

The Total CLOV for Aker Solutions project was the first completed with C25.

Since then, AIS has used it on projects such as Kaombo, the largest subsea development in Africa. More than 900,000 kgs of C25 were applied for the project, which started in 2014 and is still ongoing.

In its 10 years of service, AIS has used C25 to complete more than 100 contracts, applying 2.5 million kgs of material in all major oil basins worldwide. C25 can be found in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, offshore Brazil, West Africa, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Canada, among other locations.
