BERGEN, Norway – ClampOn will supply subsea erosion monitors and sand detectors for Equinor’s Kristin Sør development in the Norwegian Sea, under a contract worth nearly NOK10 million ($1.15 million).
The non-intrusive subsea erosion monitors, to be installed in bends, will help track any wall thickness loss.
ClampOn’s non-intrusive subsea particle monitors / sand detectors will be placed in funnels and clamped to the outside of the pipe, around two pipe diameters after the bend.
Any particles in the flow that hit the inside wall of the pipe will generate a noise that will be picked up by the sensor, which will also serve to quantify the volume of sand produced.
Kristin Sør involves tiebacks of the Lavrans and Kristin Q to the Kristin production platform. Aker Solutions is supplying the subsea templates, subsea trees, and manifolds.
ClampOn previously delivered topsides and subsea instrumentation to Kristin for sand monitoring and pig detection.
