OSLO, Norway – Equinor has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to extend operations at the Mikkel gas condensate field in the eastern Norwegian Sea through year-end 2039.
This is more than 16 years after the originally approved expiry date of July 23, 2023.
Mikkel was discovered in 1987 in 220 m depth and went on to be developed in the early 2000s via two subsea templates tied back to the Åsgard B facility. Production started in 2003.
