OSLO, Norway – Twenty-six companies have lodged applications for offshore blocks under Norway’s Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) 2022 licensing round.
Most of the companies active on the Norwegian shelf made submissions for the round, which opened on June 14.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate will assess the bids, with a focus on geological understanding and plans for exploring the areas. Awards should follow early in 2023.
Norway’s Minister of Petroleum and Energy Terje Aasland said: “We need exploration and new discoveries to maintain the production of oil and gas over time, which is important both for Norway and Europe."
