ConocoPhillips drills second Norwegian Sea well after minor gas find

ConocoPhillips Skandinavia has made a small gas discovery in the Norwegian Sea, 30 km southwest of the Aker BP-operated Skarv Field.

The Eldfisk North Project is targeting additional resources in the Eldfisk Field. The development concept is a three-by-six slot subsea production system with 14 wells, where nine are producers and five are water injectors, according to a May 2022 ConocoPhillips news release.

OSLO, Norway— ConocoPhillips Skandinavia has made a small gas discovery in the Norwegian Sea, 30 km southwest of the Aker BP-operated Skarv Field.
The Transocean Norgesemisubmersible drilled well 6507/4-3 in 436 m of water on license PL1064.
Well 6507/4-3 S encountered sandstone layers in the Lange Formation totaling about 55 m with poor reservoir quality.
According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, the well encountered a 1-m gas column in the shallowest part of the Lange Formation sandstone layers, with early analysis suggesting less than 0.1 MMcmoe recoverable.
The licensees will next drill exploration well 6306/3-2 S for ConocoPhillips in PL935 in the Norwegian Sea.
