OSLO, Norway  The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has opened bidding for the APA 2022 licensing round.

This encompasses predefined areas (APA) with blocks in the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea.

Since APA 2021, the APA acreage has been expanded by 28 blocks in the Barents Sea. However, following the Revised National Budget 2022 negotiations, the government and Norway’s Socialist Left Party agreed not to include the three Barents Sea, blocks 7426/10, 11 and 12, in APA 2022.

“Annual allocation of exploration area is part of the predictable and stable framework conditions we have in Norway,” said Terje Aasland, Minister of Petroleum and Energy. “This facilitates profitable investments, employment and future production.”

Deadline for applications is Sept. 12, 2022, at midday. Awards should be issued during first-quarter2023.
