Rig Partner Decom acquired the Stena Spey semisubmersible drilling rig from Stena Drilling for recycling on Aug. 5.
Rota Shipping will complete the recycling.
The Stena Spey MODU has been laid up in Invergordon, northeast Scotland.
The initial focus will be on the removal of hazardous waste and an application for an export permit with Rota Shipping in Izmir, Turkey, contracted for the recycling.
Towing of the rig to the recycling yard will start late next January.
