MILAN, Italy – Eni has extended its contract with Saipem for the Santorini drillship, starting from this August.
Currently the vessel is working for Eni in the Gulf of Mexico.
Saipem estimates the value of the extension at about $280 million, plus additional income linked to investments for improvements to the vessel.
The company acquired the seventh-generation drillship last December from Samsung Heavy Industries. It is designed to drill in water depths of up to 12,000 ft (over 3,500 m), with innovative digitalization and automation solutions, Saipem added.
