VIGO, Spain  Briggs Marine has contracted Freire Shipyard to design and construct a new maintenance support vessel.

This will be configured to support Briggs’ contracts for inspection, servicing and replacement of navigation marks and heavy inshore moorings, operating where required with an onboard diving team.

The vessel, due to be delivered in 2024, will be 40 m long with a diesel-electric DP-2 propulsion system designed for operations in UK and Northern European waters.

It will be able to support diving, survey and other maintenance support and project activities, and it will include a moonpool, detachable A-frame, four-point mooring system and survey project office.

In addition, a de-mountable crew transfer vessel boarding ladder will support offshore wind farm projects.
