STAVANGER, Norway – The harsh-environment Deepsea Yantai semisub, operated by Odfjell Drilling, has spud the Eirik exploration well in the Norwegian North Sea for operator OMV Norge.
The 15/2-2 S well is drilling in production license 817, close to the Equinor-operated Gudrun field in 111 m water depth.
Operations could last up to 100 days in the event of a discovery, which would include a sidetrack. Eirik is a gas and condensate prospect close to existing infrastructure, said OMV Norge general manager Knut Mauseth.
Other partners in the license are Neptune Energy and Source Energy.
