SKUDENESHAVN, Norway  Equinor UK has taken two Solstad Offshore platforms on five-year contracts, starting January 2023, with options for extensions.

Sea Frost, which has been on contract with Equinor since 2017, will be upgraded with a battery-hybrid system and shore power. The other vessel, Normand Naley, already has these capabilities.

Solstad Offshore now has three platform supply vessels (PSVs) installed with battery-hybrid systems and shore power operating in the UK sector on a long-term basis. This will help reduce both fuel consumption, emissions and opex, according to Kenneth Lande, executive vice president and head of the global AHTS & PSV segment at Solstad Offshore.
