RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil  Petrobras has said the platform ship Anita Garibaldi left the shipyard DSIC Marine Yard in Dalian, China, on Oct. 6, bound for Brazil.

The new FPSO system will be installed in the Marlim and Voador fields in the Campos Basin, with production expected to begin in third-quarter 2023.

With the capacity to produce up to 80,000 bbl/d of oil and process up to 7 MMcm/d of gas, the new FPSO will be strategic for the Campos Basin renewal plan, aimed at renewing mature assets operated by the company in the region. Petrobras is investing US$16 billion in this program, which integrates its strategic plan for the period 2022 to 2026.

The new platform will be connected to 43 wells, with peak production expected in 2026. The Marlim Revitalization Project plans to replace the nine platforms that operate in the Marlim and Voador fields (P-18, P-19, P-20, P-26, P-32, P-33, P-35, P-37 and P-47) with the new Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery FPSOs– the latter scheduled to start production in first-quarter 2023.

International pole of offshore technology and cradle of deepwater production in Brazil, Petrobras said the Campos Basin has pioneered innovation and will continue to be both for decommissioning projects and for the revitalization of mature concessions.

Soon after setting sail from the shipyard, Anita Garibaldi will undergo tests in the anchorage area for about four days and then will continue the trip to Brazil. Before arriving at the Campos Basin, the new FPSO will be destined for the Jurong shipyard in the city of Aracruz, where it will undergo the commissioning process as well as regulatory inspections and operational tests.
