DELFT, the Netherlands— Allseas’ heavy-lift vessel Pioneering Spirit has removed the topsides from the decommissioned Gyda drilling and production platform in the southern Norwegian North Sea.
The vessel has since delivered the 18,400-metric-ton topsides to Aker Solutions’ dismantling/recycling site in Stord, western Norway. It will return this summer to remove the Gyda jacket.
Gyda, in between the Ula and Ekofisk fields, was developed by bp with a combined drilling, accommodation and processing facility supported by a steel jacket in 66 m of water depth.
