Huisman to supply cranes for Cadeler wind installation vessels

SCHIEDAM, the Netherlands – COSCO Shipping (Qidong) Offshore Co. Ltd. has contracted Huisman to design and construct two >2,000-metric ton leg encircling cranes (LEC).

The cranes will be installed on Cadeler’s two newbuild X-class wind turbine installation vessels.

The identical LECs have a 155-m (509-ft) long boom, capable of reaching 180.5 m (592.2 ft) above deck. The company said the boom can be upgraded to 175 m (574 ft) in order to increase the lifting height to 200.5 m (657.8 ft).

Huisman’s work scope consists of the design, engineering, and construction of the two LECs at its production facility in Zhangzhou, China. The cranes will be commissioned at COSCO’s shipyard in Qidong, China, where the X-class vessels will be built.

The vessels are set to be delivered by 3Q 2024 and 1Q 2025, respectively.
