RIO DE JANEIROWilson Sons, an operator of port and maritime logistics in Brazil, expects 22 further FPSOs to start operating off the country’s shores between 2022 and 2026.

The company, which has a fleet of 80 tugs, participated this year in more than 20 oil and gas-related operations, including support for FPSOs, rigs, shipyards, and FSRUs.

Elísio Dourado, commercial director of Wilson Sons’ Towage division, said: “Over the next four years, we will have a considerable number of platforms starting to operate, others being decommissioned, new LNG terminals, which brings a series of opportunities for the supply chain in this industry.”

According to the company, 93% of its tugs have azimuth propulsion and four are escort tugs, suited to the demands of moving large structures such as platforms.

This year, six more high-powered tugs are under construction at Wilson Sons’ shipyard in Guarujá, designed to the IMO TIER III standard to ensure a reduction of more than 75% in nitrogen oxide emissions.

Recent projects include assistance maneuvers for the FPSOs P-71 at Jurong Shipyard in Espírito Santo state, and the BW Cidade de São Vicente and Carioca MV30 in Rio de Janeiro state.
