ULSTEINVIK, Norway – VARD Langsten has delivered the platform supply vessel Island Discoverer to Island Offshore.
The vessel was completed this spring, but the delivery was postponed due to difficult market conditions, Island said.
The Island Discoverer will transport and supply both liquid and dry cargo in tanks, as well as containers and pipes on deck. The vessel is 86 m (282 ft) long and 18.5 m (61 ft) wide, with a deck area of 900 sq m (9,688 sq ft).
According to the company, the Island Discoverer can claim to be a medium-sized PSV with cabin space for 26 people onboard. The vessel will be flagged in Norway with a crew of 13. It is of the design type UT 717 CDX, designed by Kongsberg Maritime, and is the fifth of this type in the company’s fleet.
