DUBAI, UAE – Drydocks World has cut first steel for the turntable for the turret mooring system for Vår Energi’s Jotun A FPSO upgrade project.

Bluewater Energy Services commissioned the turntable as part of a turret mooring system for vessel, which will be permanently moored and operated at the Balder field in the Norwegian North Sea.

The turntable will be 24 m (78.7 ft) in diameter and 10 m (33 ft) high, with a weight of around 925 tons.

Drydocks World anticipates around 275,000 man-hours to complete the fabrication and testing works. The shipyard’s full scope includes bulk procurement, fabrication engineering, assembly, inspection, mechanical completion, testing and load-out of the turret turntable, which is due to be delivered by mid-2021.
