HOUSTON – MODEC has contracted SOFEC Inc. to supply the external turret mooring system for an FPSO that will be deployed at the Sangomar field offshore Senegal.
SOFEC will be responsible for all EPC activities related to the external turret and its ancillary components. The company will assist in turret integration and offshore hook‐up and commissioning activities as planned in 2023.
Earlier this month, MODEC received an FPSO purchase contract from Woodside, operator of the Rufisque Offshore, Sangomar Offshore and Sangomar Deep Offshore joint venture. This comprises Capricorn Senegal Ltd. (40%), Woodside Energy (Senegal) B.V. (35%), FAR Ltd. (15%), and Petrosen (10%).
The FPSO will be deployed about 100 km (62 mi) south of Dakar, Senegal, in about 780 m (2,559 ft) water depth.
The Sangomar field development is in the Sangomar Offshore and Sangomar Offshore Deep blocks. First oil is expected in early 2023.
