The second platform for Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm in the UK southern North Sea arrived at Aibel’s yard in Haugesund, Norway last month.

It had undergone a two-month voyage from the company’s Map Ta Phut yard in Thailand.

The Hornsea 3 Link 2 platform was then loaded into the quay area, alongside Link 1, which is currently undergoing final completion. This platform too was constructed in Thailand.

Aibel said Link 2 follows its proven concept/model for HVDC converter stations for the international offshore wind sector. It will feature high-voltage equipment supplied by Hitachi Energy.

Link 1 is due to sail from Haugesund this spring, followed by Link 2 in late summer.
