HSM Offshore Energy has rolled out the offshore high-voltage substation and lifted the GIS modules for RWE Renewables’ Thor wind farm in the Danish North Sea.
Thor, with a planned capacity of 1,058 MW, will be Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm to date. The substation will serve as the central hub, collecting and transforming electricity generated by the turbines to transmission-level voltage.
Electricity from the substation will head through subsea export cables to the new onshore substation at Volder Søndervang.
HSM Offshore Energy is managing the EPCIC scope of the offshore high-voltage substation and its jacket foundation, with both due to be installed next year followed by commissioning and testing in 2026.
RWE Renewables aims to start operations in fourth-quarter 2026.
