This investment builds on the about £2 million already dedicated to the development of HexDefence, including prototypes, design and testing.
Balmoral Comtec has invested £1 million ($1.32 million) in developing a wave and current simulation center at the Balmoral Business Park.
It is designed to simulate surface, subsea and seabed conditions for assessing offshore wind facilities, solar and other subsea systems under dynamic water conditions.
The company will use the development, part-funded by the Energy Transition Zone, for design validation of its HexDefence scour protection, which it introduced in 2023.
The new facility can replicate offshore wave and current scenarios, offshore and gas sector and other marine industry requirements. And it will also be available to third parties for testing purposes.
This 3rd annual report, published in August 2024, reviews the latest projects and technologies, expert insights and more on offshore wind advancements.
This monthly e-newsletter provides updates on new technology, projects and policy for the development of offshore renewable energy from wind, waves, solar, and other resources.
