ScottishPower Renewables has formalized a supply deal with Siemens Gamesa to construct 64 wind turbines for the East Anglia TWO wind farm in the UK southern North Sea.
Siemens Gamesa’s offshore wind blade factory in Hull, northeast England, will manufacture the 115-m-long blades for the SG 14-236 DD turbines, with a rotor diameter of 236 m.
East Anglia TWO, 33 km from the Suffolk coast, will have the capacity to generate up to 960 MW.
Recently, ScottishPower Renewables revealed it was doubling its investment in the UK from £12 billion to £24 billion ($15.38 billion to $30.76 billion) over the next four years.
East Anglia TWO will be the third wind farm at the company’s East Anglia Hub. East Anglia ONE (714 MW) came onstream in July 2020, while East Anglia THREE (1.4 MW) is under construction, with offshore foundation works due to start early next year.
Siemens Gamesa is the wind turbine supplier for all three projects.
The development consent order for East Anglia TWO was issued in March 2022.
ScottishPower Renewables is part of the ScottishPower group of companies operating in the UK under the Iberdrola Group.
