SPIE to monitor Vattenfall offshore wind cables for faults

Vattenfall has awarded SPIE Global Services Energy subsidiary Correll two multi-year framework agreements to conduct cable testing and fault finding for offshore wind farms in Europe.

The agreements, which run for an initial five years, apply to the high-voltage submarine cable system. One will cover offshore wind farms in the UK and the second one will cover the rest of Europe (excl. Germany and UK).

Duties include pinpointing the locations of electrical faults in a cable via cable testing, cable condition monitoring and/or further cable testing prior to re-energization.
