It is Tokyo Gas’ first direct investment in a floating offshore wind power project outside Japan. The company and Ocean Winds are also shareholders of Principle Power, which produced the WindFloat floating foundation system and is looking to branch out into Japan.

WindFloat Atlantic’s 8.4-MW wind turbines have been in operation since 2020.

Ocean Winds has also entered a partnership with Martifer Renewables & Energy to jointly participate in Portugal’s first tender for offshore wind farms, due to be staged later this year.

Martifer brings knowledge of the Portuguese market through the Martifer Group.
