Vestas will supply and commission 53 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines to the OranjeWind offshore wind farm development, formerly known as Hollandse Kust West VII, which is 53 km offshore in the Dutch North Sea.

Upon completion of the program, the company will also service the turbines under a five-year agreement, to be followed by a long-term operational support arrangement.

Last week RWE and TotalEnergies announced they were forming a 50:50 development partnership for the project, which will have an installed capacity of 795 MW; a grid connection capacity of 760 MW; and an excess capacity of 35 MW to ensure efficiency, even when production is lower.

Installation of the turbines is set to start in 2027.

The V236-15.0 MW range features 115.5-m blades, with a claimed capacity factor of more than 60%. According to Vestas, this means fewer turbines are needed to generate more energy annually.
