RWE and Masdar’s development consent order application for the Dogger Bank South fixed wind farms has secured approval to enter the planning inspectorate examination phase.

RWE and Masdar’s development consent order application for the 3-GW Dogger Bank South (DBS) fixed wind farms in the UK southern North Sea has secured approval to enter the planning inspectorate examination phase.

RWE entered agreements concerning the lease for the two projects with the UK’s Crown Estate in January 2023. Last December, Masdar acquired a 49% stake in the two projects with the shareholding agreement finalized this February.

DBS East and DBS West will be located more than 100 km offshore the northeast coast of England, with up to 200 wind turbines and a combined capacity of 3 GW.

Acceptance of the development consent order application allows the projects to progress to the pre-examination phase, which will be subject to a public examination later this year.
