UTRECHT, the NetherlandsMammoet has started assembly of its new SK6000 ring crane at its Westdorpe site in the Netherlands.

The fully electric crane, with a maximum capacity of 6,000 t, will be capable of lifting components weighing up to 3,000 t to a height of 220 m, including offshore wind turbine and foundation structures.

This lifting power, the company added, should allow for more efficient construction in larger pieces, with benefits for projects’ logistics, integration and mobilization phases.

Following mobilization of all parts to Westdorpe, the initial works include assembly of the crane’s base frame, power packs and control room.

Auxiliary cranes supporting the assembly process include two 250-mt crawler cranes and a 140-mt Gottwald mobile harbor crane.
