MOLDE, Norway — Seatrium has commissioned Motus Technology to engineer, design and build the main crane for Equinor’s Empire Wind 1 Offshore Substation, 20 miles south of Long Island, New York.
Motus will deliver the completed crane to Seatrium’s Singapore yard.
The full Empire Wind 1 development will extend over an area 15-30 miles southeast of Long Island in water depths from 75 ft to 135 ft.
Motus’ electric-hydraulic offshore crane will be capable of lifting 5-metric ton loads at 30 m. It also will be designed to comply with the API 2C Eight Edition, and US statutory laws and regulations governing inspection, installation and operation in offshore US federal areas.
As the crane will be unattended for long periods, the design scope includes measures for protecting its components from the harsh offshore conditions and reducing required maintenance and startup time for mobilizing/demobilizing on the platform.
