COPENHAGEN, Denmark — The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has approved the environmental impact report for the 240-MW Jammerland Bay coastal offshore wind farm.

Would-be developer Jammerland Bay Nearshore (represented by European Energy) can now proceed to the next steps of the application process, which include applying for an establishment permit.

This cannot be issued until a public consultation on the environmental impact report has concluded. This will probably start before the end of March.

The proposed development involves installation of 16 to 21 wind turbines over a 31-sq-km area, 6 km to 8 km from the coast. The full project area of about 34.5 sq km includes a cable corridor for the disembarkation of power cables.

From this corridor, onshore cables will extend from the landfall site on the coast to the south to a substation that is set to be erected at Equinor's refinery, and also farther north to the line field at Asnæs power station.
