NANTES, FranceCopenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has teamed up with Lhyfe and Flexens for the Åland Energy Island project.

This will combine development of large-scale hydrogen production on Åland with gigawatt scale offshore wind offshore for use both on Åland, which is in the Baltic Sea between Sweden and Finland, and in the wider European region.

The project’s final configuration will be developed in close coordination with the local government.

CIP is a fund manager in offshore wind, green hydrogen, and energy islands. Lhyfe develops, designs and operates offshore and onshore hydrogen facilities in Europe with one operating plant in France and seven plants under construction in Sweden, France and Germany.

Its pilot offshore hydrogen production plant (Sealhyfe) in waters off western France is powered by a floating wind turbine.

Flexens is a locally based developer of hydrogen projects.
