DUBAI, UAE — Fabricator Lamprell has dispatched the first batch of transition pieces for Moray West’s Moray offshore wind farm development in the UK North Sea.
The structures are for wind turbine generators and the offshore substation platform.
The contract, awarded in 2022, covered construction of 62 transition pieces and shipping of these to a marshalling harbor in the UK. Further batch deliveries will continue over the next few months, Lamprell added.
Its newly built renewables production line enables serial manufacturing of monopiles and transition pieces. Capabilities include automated high-capacity can rolling, welding, milling and non-destructive testing.
Earlier this month the company announced it had secured two EPCI contracts for projects in the GCC region for a total of six offshore jackets, three offshore production decks, and associated pipeline and subsea cables.
Fabrication has now started in Hamriyah, Sharjah.
Another recently awarded assignment, from NPCC, is for five jackets for an unnamed project in the Middle East, the scope comprising fabrication, painting and load-out of the jackets and boat landings with an option for the supply and fabrication of grillage and sea-fastening of the structures.
